Laboratory of Basic Research in Horticulture is a research unit of Faculty of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture, Warsaw University of Life Sciences - SGGW. We have been working on several fields of phytoremediation since 1998. Some time ago we focused on air phytoremediation in urban areas with emphasis given to air pollution with particulate matter.
This project has started in January 2009.

Workpackages

WP 1. Screening plant species comonly cultivated in urban areas for ability of particulate matter uptake
WP 2. Particulate matter, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, heavy and noble metals as air pollutanst
WP 3. Vegetation potential for pollutants uptake
WP 4. Composting of vegetation litter
WP 5. Modelling of pollutant uptake and benefits assessment toward large canopy cover, with a mixture of different species,
at different pollution concentrations and under different climatic conditions
WP 6. Development ofdecision support system

Studies supported by a grant from Norway through the Norwegian Financial Mechanism, #PNRF-193-AI-1/07 granted to S.W. Gawronski and A. Sæbø
